Am i getting scammed by supplier?

So on Alibaba I started talking to one supplier for a product I wanted. Is a verified company with loads of sales. I wanted a sample and I didn’t notice but the sales rep I was talking to sent the invoice over from a company only on there for a year unverified. We moved talking to what’s app. The samples came in very good and what I was looking for so I wanted to put in a bulk order and the sales rep wanted me to wire money. I asked that I wanted to pay through Alibaba and she was saying it would have to wait a week that they are making new companies. What is this all about. She was willing to take a deposit right away from a wire but it has to wait a week before Alibaba? Have any of you experienced anything like this before?
