Advice Please! I closed FBA four years ago but was just hit with outstanding charges plus interest now, four years later. No notifications in the meantime. How can I fight it?
Hi! I’m looking for advice!
I ran an FBA account for textbooks but closed it four years ago. I forfeited my items and they charged a ‘disposal’ fee for some of the books, which I accepted because it cost way more to mail them back to me. I thought I had paid all the fees but I guess a couple had been disposed of and charged later.
What is shocking to me is that I received an email last week stating that I had overdue charges. Not only did they have the original FBA fees but also interest from four years that nearly triples the original fees. I have not received any correspondence regarding this since 2019 when I closed the account, which is the crux of my frustration.
After several days of back and forth I received an email today claiming I was unprofessional for asking them to 1) explain the charges (I couldn’t go back far enough in my seller account to figure out where the original charges were — to me it looked like they were charging random fees four years after I closed the account) and 2) waive the interest since I hadn’t been notified of the charge until now, four years later. I have been so polite through this entire exchange — I definitely know that these customer service agents aren’t paid enough, part of why I decided not to sell there anymore. But this last response was so rude and put my frustration through the roof.
I guess I was just venting there, but my question is: am I right to ask for a waive of the interest and/or whole fees, and how can I enact this? I want to fight the interest at least on principle, and I know Bezos is getting all that money.
Thanks in advance, appreciate your advice.
