EBC modules and design

I’m working on refreshing our EBC for Q4. I’ve noticed a lot of listings now use simple image modules with no real text – all text is rendered within the image. Seems like mostly people use the alt tag to add some indexable content, but I would imagine it is far less than using the text/image modules Amazon provides. Does anyone have thoughts / experience on this? Obviously image only design is a lot more flexible – and looks better! – but I’m wondering if you’re missing out on indexing opportunities. Thanks!
