High Volumes? Do NOT use MCF
Posting here as a warning to anyone using MCF. I also posted to the Seller Forum here
Amazon received my inventory shipment on Feb 19, 2021 (checked-in), and I immediately synced over ~1,200 orders for fulfillment from my website. As planned, Amazon paired each order with a unit of inventory.
Now, 23 days later, Amazon has not shipped ~200 of these orders (they are still in the Planning status). Many of the unfulfilled orders have an Estimated Delivery Date of March 19 (29 days later), and many have Est. Delivery Dates of March 24 and 25. Amazon support cannot help despite many calls, tickets, escalations, etc. Imagine the customer service nightmare.
Depending on the support rep, the issue is a glitch on their end or the inventory is still transferring between Fulfillment Centers.
Also interesting: orders containing 2 or 3 units are being shipped separately. Some customers had one unit arrive almost immediately, while the other unit they ordered is in limbo with no Estimated Delivery Date.
Also to note: Amazon has now started listing some of the orders as “Unfulfillable.” This is because they sold reserved units on their platform, and un-paired my inventory from existing MCF orders.
I am leaving Amazon for MCF. If you have large MCF volumes and do any sort of pre-orders (where you send them large MCF orders at one time), I’d advise you reconsider as well. I’m currently in talks with ShipBob, who will plan with us to turnaround large volumes upon inventory/order receipt.
TL;DR If you have a high volume of MCF orders (or plan to), do not use Amazon’s Multi-channel Fulfillment service. Amazon does not prioritize or adequately support high volumes through MCF.
