How Should I Partner with My Friend for Amazon FBA Private Label?
I am planning to start my own Amazon business and have approached a close friend who has experience in Amazon Private Label (PL) business. He has been running his business since 2020 and has gained valuable experience through his journey.
Here’s our plan:
My friend will create an Amazon account in my name, ensuring that everything is legal and compliant. He will run the account, including product research, sourcing, and other necessary activities. He will also aim to rank the products and make the business profitable within 4-6 months.
As for my contribution, I will invest 100% of the amount needed to start the business. I will have weekly meetings with my friend to learn from his experience and expertise in running an Amazon PL business.
Initially, I offered him 30% of the profit, but he asked for 50%. I think this is a fair and reasonable request considering his expertise and contribution to the business’s success.
However, the issue is that he also wants to be an equal owner of the business. This means that if I decide to sell the account in the future, he will be entitled to 50% of the sale amount, which I think is not a fair deal as I am the one investing in the account.
I would appreciate any suggestions on a fair offer and how other business partners handle this situation. I want to ensure that my friend is fairly compensated for his work while also protecting my investment.
