How to get better carriers for LTL or do it ourselves

Hello everyone need help. Since last year we have been using LTL carriers for pallet shipments and they have heen helpful but always unprofessional and now they are just terrible and cause more problems. The last 3 LTL shipments the carrier decided to never call us and inform us that they resechduled so our team member sat at our warehouse for 2hrs waiting for them. Then the next day same thing, they decided to reschedule and didnt tell us. Same thing happened on the next LTL shipment and the on our most recent one they are expecting it to be delivered in 3 months… THEY PICKED IT UP A MONTH AGO!!!! Its less than 200 miles to amazon, why will it take 3 months?!!??

Now I want to know if there is anyway for us to get better companies or even do this ourselves. One of our team members has CDL experience so we can rent a box truck and do this ourselves is amazon will let us. We can even set up a trucking company and choose our own loads if thats the only way to do it, we just dont want to deal with these crappy LTL carriers anymore, its too much of a headache. Any advice on how to do this would be very helpful.
