I was given a “goodwill refund” for an FBA item I sent to Amazon
I sent the item on March 2nd. I was delivered to Amazon on March 5th.
While in transit, it showed up as “Reserved”, then…nothing. It was as if the item didn’t exist.
I contacted Amazon, they looked into it and said this:
Hello from Fulfillment by Amazon,
One or more items in your FBA inventory qualifies for a reimbursement. We have initiated a reimbursement request for you. No action is required from you at this time.
This transaction is the result of an issue that you brought to our attention or an issue that we identified at the fulfillment center. The transaction amount is determined in accordance with the FBA lost and damaged inventory reimbursement policy, http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=200242960.
The refund didn’t happen, then I got this email a week later:
Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,
We have completed our investigation of your lost inventory.
Reconciliation details for *************
• Actual Starting Inventory:
• Units received at the fulfillment center: 0
• Units shipped to customers: 0
• Units returned by customers: 0
• Removal order quantity: 0
• Net adjustments: 0
• Net unit quantity: Sum of all above quantities = 0
• Current unit quantity = 0
• Total Amazon misplaced inventory: 0
• Pending misplaced inventory: 0
• Found inventory: 0
• Misplaced inventory previously reimbursed: 0
I then chatted with Amazon via the online chat and gave them the details. After hearing me out they offered a full refund of the price of the item, which was $154.95
I accepted the “Goodwill refund”, and then I started to wonder if I should have declined so I could just wait and see what if anything happened with the item being in limbo.
So, my question is…what should I do now?
What happens if they eventually find the item?
Should I (can I?) just delete the listing now, as to potentially avoid complications later? Besides, if it does go for sale, I will certainly get less than $154.95 due to Amazon fees, and I may also have to lower the price if it doesn’t sell fast enough.
Thank you in advance. 🙂
