Should I use Amazon FBA to start my own brand?

I would like to start a branded clothing company. However, I don’t have a following or a budget to start an e-commerce store on its own URL domain. I was thinking Amazon would be a great starting point to see how I do with 2-3 clothing items and as I grow I could pull my brand into its own site/e commerce store. For those who are experienced is this a good business approach when starting with a small budget and small audience?
