Selling in North America as a UK seller

I have a UK amazon FBA account that I initially was going to start up but the market is way too small and I’ve decided to do it in the US instead. Has anyone had experience doing this? I’m just curious of how much extra tax etc you would pay? What are the disadvantages? From where I see it, theres no point selling in the UK at all
